pretty flowers

pretty flowers

How much do you love this field of lupine & arrowleaf balsamroot?! I snapped this on Friday while I was way out in western Montana, gathering arrowleaf balsamroot among the pines. Of course, I don't have to go that far to find these beauties but I like to take a road trip every now & then, and Friday was the perfect day for it. The arrowleaf balsam root that I harvested goes into our gardener salve, which is up on our website, if you'd like to have some. Our gardener salve is one of those items that's pretty seasonal -...

pine resin, pt 2

pine resin, pt 2

This is the first batch of the year, of our lovely pine resin infused oil (with the cutest succulent peeking out from behind). I wish you could experience how wonderful it smells in here right now. 💚 This oil is made in very small batches, depending on how much resin I've been able to collect. It will be made into a very limited amount of pain relief salve. If you're interested in having some, let me know either in the comments or message me and I'll put you on the list.

happy little heartleaf arnica

happy little heartleaf arnica

Happy little heartleaf arnica. 💛 I went wandering through the woods again this morning, to gather a bit of heartleaf arnica (arnica cordifolia) for making salves. Had it not been for remembering that I stashed a jar of arnica salve in my bathroom drawer, I have no doubt that the pain would have lasted longer. Instead, I was able to get out & forage today. Our salve is infused...

i'm in love

i'm in love

I'm in love. In love with resin. In love with trees and their gifts & wisdom, in general. While I was on my hike through the forest a few days ago, I decided to take a break & sit at the base of a huge pine tree. I sat there for a while and just listened to the quiet; to the wind, to the wildlife around me. When I got up, I noticed there was quite a lot of resin build up on this tough old pine. So I asked, and then collected a bit of resin. It's like receiving...

nettles are up!!

nettles are up!!

Nettles are up!! 🌱 I love this time of year; when the sun comes out, the days are warmer...and longer...and the sweet green leaves of plants start making their appearances. I went for a walk through the woods this morning and found a patch of nettles. It was a small-ish patch but I was able to harvest enough to make some pesto. But nettle isn't just good for pesto. We use it in our nourishing herbal infusions several times a week. We make (and sell) a lovely tincture, and many of our skin care products contain nettle infused oils & extracts....
